What a wonderful celebration and testimony of Mac’s life and the impact he had on others. Those of us who knew him are better because of him and his kindness and simple spirit will never be forgotten. Our hearts have been heavy but we rejoice in knowing that Mac is in a better place now and he is whole once again. Thank you Bobby for sharing this video.

How much we’ll miss Mac. He is as much a part of Clemson as the tiger paws on the road or the color orange. Tiger Town won’t be the same without him, but we’ll remember.

Unforutnately Dale and I were not able to attend the “Celebration of the Life of Mac”. To whoever posted this video….Thank you! I sent Dale the link and this was her response: “WOW, what an honor for his family. I don’t know if you watched and listened to the benediction, but you need to. Mac would have loved it. I will miss him, he made me feel very special everytime I saw him, a true Clemson gentleman, who I grew to love with each passing year. Rest in peace, Mac. I will miss you greatly!!” I echo her sentiments, I too grew to love Mac more and more, he asked about our daughter Brittany every single time we “visited”. I use the term “visited” instead of “ate there” because it truly was a visit each and every time. I agree with Steve Fuller, it never was about the cheeseburgers. I was fortunate enough to have a football and a baseball picture on “THE WALL” and it means as much to me as any other accolade I have ever received. I have a painting of Mac’s in my office and I cherish it! I love you Mac and I too will miss you greatly. Until we meet again.

Thank you very much Lawson for this website. It was a beautiful closing on a wonderful life.

Josh, thanks so much for your note. Lawson did such a great job speaking at this event, so did all of the other speakers. This is actually a project of BobbyRettew, llc (video and website), but it is not the intent of to promote this business but to share the testimony of Mac’s great atttributes…his family and friends. Please spread the word and it is my hope to keep adding more information to this website. Thanks, Bobby

Thanks to Bobby and Lawson and any others who made this site possible. For me, Mac was as significant to my Clemson experience as Tillman Hall or Tiger football. He was one of the kindest people one could ever know. Having lunch at Mac’s as a student nearly cost me my degree – why rush back for that 12:20 class when there was a cheeseburger steak plate, sweet tea, and pinball? And time spent talking with Mac.

Joe, it is amazing all the stories that I have heard that seem so similar to mine. I can remember in high-school at Daniel, we used to skip lunch to come get a double cheese burger, eat it in time to get back for fifth period. Ole Smiley Sanders caught us one day. But it was so worth it. Lawson was so right, he always wanted to know how we were doing and what was going on in our lives. Just writing this makes me want to go drive and get a sweet tea! ~Bobby

What a great celebration of the life of a GREAT man! My wife, Shelly and I were unfortunately out of town last week. But, I am so thankful to be able to share these precious moments in celebration of Mac through this website. Mac made such a huge impact on many young peoples lives. I remember after football practice going to see Mac and sharing with him the “mood” of the day. It didn’t matter if it was good or bad, Mac always had something positive to say about it. Although he was not on the sidelines, Mac was quite a coach in his own right. He was a “life coach” and all of our lives are much richer for having known him. We love you Mac and will never forget your smile, or the blessings you shared with all of us.
Thank you Bobby for putting this together. Also, thank you to Coach Holland, Coach Ford and JD for expressing so well what all of us are feeling!
